To install the "Terminal Services" CLIENT-only software from Lisle, Right-click on "My Network Places" Select "Search for Computers..." In the "Computer Name" box, type in "chicago", then hit "Search Now" (You used to be able to use chidev2, but that went to IAM) Double-click the "chicago" icon that appears if/when the computer is found. The userid & password you need to get in, is delphion\administrator & password is p0rcupine (at least it was on 08-19-2002). "delphion\adminstrator" is the "domain administrator". (You used to be able to also get into chidev2 by using the "local administrator", which was administrator and password=global. This was the id & password Mike gave out, but on 1-27-2003, Mike says to try your Sametime password. I haven't tried this.) (On 2-11-2003, I used administrator/adapter to rename Rebecca's W2K machine on the network) (On 3-11-2003, when renaming Carol's new sleepy machine to the delphion.com domain (which by the way, is the primary domain controlled by the Domain Controller named chicago, NOT the sanjose.delphion.com domain which is controlled by the Domain Controller named tiger), we had to use delphion\administrator and password p0rcupine. And even then, we couldn't "register" sleepy into the domain without first putting the machine into a phony workgroup, then changing it into the delphion.com domain. Otherwise we got some stupid "can't find the domain" and "DNS Lookup" failure. Don't ask me what that's all about.) Double-click on the "Software" folder Double-click on the "Terminal Services" folder Double-click on the "tsmisetup.exe" folder to pre-install the binary install file at C:\Program Files\Terminal Services Client MSI Open Windows Explorer to that C:\Program Files\Terminal Services Client MSI directory. Double-click on the "Terminal Services Client MSI" icon to really install it. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - On the client end, from the Start menu, find the "Client Connection Manager" and launch it. Use this to create client sessions on different computers. The settings should be - 800 x 600 (For some reason, I cannot get the Client Connection Manager to successfully log me on with a saved password. I always have to type it in.) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - When you exit the Terminal Services Client window, insure you go through the Start Shutdown Log off administrator sequence first. ============================================================================= ============================================================================= ============================================================================= To install the SERVER software, you need to install it from the "Windows 2000 Advanced Server" CD. Click on Start Settings Control Panel Add/Remove Programs Click on the "ADD/Remove Windows Components" icon at the bottom left, to get to the "Windows Components Wizard" window. Scroll down to find "Terminal Services", and click that box. Put in the "Windows 2000 Advanced Server" CD, which will automatically launch a window. You want to exit out of that window. Then back on the "Windows Components Wizard" window, click the "Next>" button to install. Take all the defaults, let it install, and let it reboot. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mike says there is also a NT-version of this Terminal Services Server somewhere.
