Rick Jasper 139 Farnham Court Senior System Administrator San Jose, CA 95139 rick@delphion.com Home: (408) 227-2856 Work: (408) 960-7529 Job Objective: To help exploit the Internet, specifically the World Wide Web by developing programs to run, control, and administer a web site. The job should involve all aspects of a modern web site, from programming active content, to security from hacker attacks. Highlights: - Ten years AIX System Administration. Working toward knowing AIX as well as I did VM. Emphasis on problem determination and resolution. - TCP/IP debug experience with name servers, security, web and ftp servers on both internal intranet and external Internet. - Twelve year VM System Programmer. Know VM inside out, top to bottom. - Consistently high job appraisals. - Proven team leader and project planner. - Excellent communication skills. Major Professional Accomplishments (Reverse chronological order): - Converted entire San Jose office to new I.P. addresses in one day. - Installation of Patent Server for Japanese customer. Installed hardware, operating system, web server software and debugged entire site. - Took over Almaden's external web and ftp server. Cleaned up years of history (read, garbage), making the service more hacker-resistant and audit-ready. - Established Almaden's AIX 4.1 network installation (NIM) server. Installed the filesets needed for an Almaden "standard" system from CD. Wrote Korn shell, post-installation scripts that customize TCP/IP, install AFS client code and AFSR commands, and maintain common, site-wide files (e.g. password and printer queue definition files). - Initiated, planned and executed project that saved the Almaden laboratory over a million dollars in depreciation expense by eliminating and consolidating mainframe DASD usage. Successfully reduced usage enough to cancel $608K of DASD already on order and discontinue existing DASD with $770K remaining depreciation, all with no disruption to the lab. - 3090-300J Processor Removal Team Leader. Found an IBM site that needed a 3090 processor. Led 10 person team to remove the 3090 Almaden had running MVS, saving the lab $750K of remaining depreciation expense. Reconfigured the VM processor to accept the displaced MVS system image and hardware. - VM/XA Conversion. Almaden was a leader within IBM to successfully put VM/XA into production use. The effort involved thirty people and six months before the conversion to insure everything worked. Formal Degree: B.S. in Computer Science from Chico State University, CA in 1982.
