Job Objective:

To exploit the World Wide Web. There's all kinds of neat, whiz-bang tools
nowadays, JAVA, C++, or even some of these really oddball things like
     VRML. Cool stuff.

Highlights:

   - Twelve year VM System Programmer. Know VM inside out, top to bottom.
Responsible for CP, CMS, IOCDS, real-time debugging of hardware and
software problems, hardware planning, and local modifications.
   - Two years AIX Support. Still working toward knowing AIX as well as I knew
VM. It'll take quite a while before I get to that point.
   - Exposure to OS/2, DOS, Windows 3.1, and Windows 95. I like Windows 95.
   - Proven team leader and project planner.
   - Excellent communication skills.

Major Professional Accomplishments (Reverse chronological order):

   - Developed Almaden's AIX 4.1 network installation service. Installed the
filesets needed for an Almaden "standard" system from CD. Wrote Korn shell,
post-installation scripts that customize TCP/IP, install AFS client code and
AFSR commands, and maintain common, site-wide files (e.g. password and printer
queue definition files). Further enhancements will be to fully automate the
installation process, perhaps using a web page to request the installation or
     upgrade.

   - Initiated, planned and executed project that saved the Almaden laboratory
over a million dollars in depreciation expense by eliminating and
consolidating mainframe DASD usage. Successfully reduced usage enough to
cancel $608K of DASD already on order and discontinue existing DASD with
$770K remaining depreciation, all with no disruption to the lab.

   - VM/ESA Conversion Team Leader. Coordinated 15 person team to convert the
Almaden VM system to VM/ESA. Planned entire project and did 90% of the
work. Conducted weekly meetings to insure all the potential problems were
identified and addressed, and to track the rest of the work.

   - 3090-300J Processor Removal Team Leader. Found an IBM site that needed a
3090 processor. Led 10 person team to remove the 3090 Almaden had running
MVS, saving the lab $750K of remaining depreciation expense. Reconfigured
the VM processor to accept the displaced MVS system image and hardware.

   - ALMVMD Node Name Change Team Leader. Coordinated and led 25 member team to
remove 3081 processor and consolidate the two VM images into one. Chose to
keep the ALMVMA node name to avoid impacting other IBM sites that rely on
Almaden for IBM-wide conferencing disks. Eliminated the normally painful
effects of changing everybody's e-mail address by insuring wide-spread
usage of the generic node name, ALMADEN.

   - VM/XA Conversion. Almaden was one of the leaders in the corporation to
successfully put VM/XA into production use. The effort involved thirty
people and six months to insure everything worked before the conversion.
Installed CMS, updated all the program products, and converted local
applications. Reported and fixed many operating system bugs found
     during this time.

Recent Education (since November, 1994):
